A Little Marshfield History
In 1623 William Green established a commercial fishing enterprise in Green Harbor, which is what the area was originally called. Once the area was formally set as a town, it was renamed Rexhame, which is still the name of one of the beaches in the area.
It wasn’t until later that the name of the town was officially changed to Marshfield. Marshfield is best known as the home of former Secretary of State Daniel Webster. However, that is just a small part of the vibrant history of this town.
